Remembering the Roles of Luke Perry

Luke Perry died on Monday at the age of 52 after suffering a massive stroke. Born in Mansfield, Ohio, perry moved to Los Angeles after graduating high school in pursuit of a career in acting. It was a slow go at first, and as perry told the host of the Sway in the Morning radio show in 2013, it took him 256 auditions before he landed his first gig.

Perry found work on the soap opera Loving in 1988, where he appeared as Ned Bates, prompting a move to New York. That same year saw Perry regularly appearing on Another World, this time as a character named Kenny. The roles remained few and far between until he landed the role of Dylan McKay on Fox's Beverly Hills 90210, which shot Perry into almost instant stardom. The fame and popularity resulted in talk show appearances and large gatherings of fans for autograph signings, but Perry sought to break away from the character after six seasons to pursue other acting opportunities, even though he would eventually make a brief return to the show later on.

Perry appeared in shows ranging from The Incredible Hulk and Jeremiah to Oz and Windfall, even making movie appearances in Good Intentions, Red Wing, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. In 2002 Perry even made his Broadway debut, taking on the iconic role of Brad in The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Most recently Perry made waves as Archie Andrews' father Fred in the hit CW drama "Riverdale," based on the characters from the Archie comics, introducing him to a whole new generation of fans who will now mourn his loss.
